Our story
On May 8, 1926, 24 young men met for the founding meeting of the “Geisecker Sportverein 1926”.

The restaurant “Zum Wellenbad” was chosen as the club’s meeting place. Matches were played, following registration and affiliation with the association, starting in the 1926/27 season on the sports field near the swimming pool.
Due to a change in tenancy, the “Schulte-Höppe” inn became the new clubhouse. The adjacent meadow served as the sports field and, due to its sloped location, became known as the "Uphill Arena."
In 1927, youth competitions began. However, due to economic crises, unemployment, and a lack of funds, play had to be suspended in 1931.
The club was dormant until 1934/35 when former members revived it. With four teams, matches resumed with varying success. In 1941, due to conscription into the Wehrmacht, the club came to a halt once again.
Already in October 1945, after the horrors of war, a new board was elected. This board chose “Bährensmann” as the new clubhouse, and through painstaking effort, the Baggerkuhle sports field was constructed.
Play resumed, and on November 18, 1946, the club ventured into new territory with the founding of a women’s handball division.
The tournament week celebrating the club’s 25th anniversary was a highlight in its history. However, major crises soon shook the club.
Relegation in 1953 to the 2nd district division, a period without a chairman, and the lack of youth and reserve teams caused the club to fall into obscurity.
Only after years of rebuilding did signs of improvement appear again. This upward trend was confirmed in 1962 with promotion to the 1st district division and a championship title in the 2nd district division. That same year, the team also won the local tournament in Hennen.
For the 40th anniversary, the Baggerkuhle was the venue for a week-long competition. The closing celebration was held at Haus Sievert. The lack of club and youth facilities hindered the club’s activities, increasing the desire for a youth center and a new sports field. This was sparked in 1963 by news that the Baggerkuhle sports field would become an industrial area.
In 1971, the club ventured into new socio-political territory by registering an Italian team as its fourth squad. However, due to various issues, the expected success did not materialize, and this chapter closed in 1974/75.
After numerous meetings and discussions with the municipality, the club received the green light to build a new sports facility. Its completion became part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations, and the new field was inaugurated on May 2, 1976. The opening match featured Geisecker SV/SF Sölderholz against Borussia Dortmund.
The sports field became the heart of the club. The infamous Baggerkuhle was now part of history.
For the 60th anniversary, the club was proud to field teams in all age groups (except the F-youth) and to see continued growth in the senior division. Construction of the clubhouse began, and sporting successes followed. The first team and the A-youth were promoted to the A-League.
Another milestone was achieved with promotion to the Bezirksliga (district league), accomplished in 1989 under coach Helmut Gruß.
Three years later, the club was at risk of relegation from the Bezirksliga. In a decisive match, the first team secured its place after winning 7:6 in a penalty shootout.
In 1994, the club faced a difficult situation. Tax auditors did not accept the club’s previous tax treatment and demanded back payments. Thanks to strong support and great discipline, the issue was resolved.
In 1999, the “Old Boys” looked back on 25 years of matches. The hobby footballers, under the leadership of Josef Lammers, had been active for 20 years.
The club reached another high point with its 75th anniversary. In 2001, the first team, coached by Uwe Kallenbach, was promoted to the Landesliga (state league). To mark the occasion, the team played a match against Borussia Dortmund’s traditional team.
Unfortunately, after that promotion, the team was directly relegated back to the Bezirksliga the following season, where they have remained without interruption to this day.
Significant time, effort, and money have been invested in the modern expansion, maintenance, and upkeep of the sports facility.
In 2014, the playing field was converted to artificial turf, and a covered grandstand was installed. In 2016, a fenced small-pitch field with artificial turf and goals, as well as a boules court, were added.
Since September 16, 2021, the KS-Logistik-Arena has been equipped with a modern and up-to-date LED floodlight system. Thanks to numerous donations, this modernization was made possible. Not only does the club now have better lighting on the field, but it also saves about 61% of its previous electricity usage, making a contribution to climate protection.

Already in 2020, Mayor Dimitrios Axourgos informed the football club that the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag would support the construction of a new multi-generational community center on the grounds of the KS-Logistic Arena on Buschkampweg in Geisecke with funding of 1.1 million euros.
The result is a community center that, since summer 2024, has been used as a sports and youth clubhouse, but also as a meeting place for all generations. “It is a place of integration for all age groups and social backgrounds, aimed at strengthening the social fabric and cohesion of the Geisecke district,” said Dimitrios Axourgos.
The center was built at ground level and fully accessible—thanks in part to significant volunteer work on the interior—to promote inclusion and interaction with people with physical disabilities. In line with our climate protection goals, a solar and photovoltaic system was installed on the building. The former clubhouse is being converted into a dedicated locker room facility.

In the meantime, more than 200 youth players and around 80 senior players across 13 teams have found their sporting home at Geisecker SV. We offer all active and passive members meaningful leisure activities, and team spirit—both within the squads and throughout the club—is a top priority. A significant part of this is thanks to our many qualified coaches and trainers.
Among our recent sporting successes: the first team won the Schwerte City Championship three years in a row (2022–2024), and the second team was promoted to the Kreisliga B as champions in 2024. Our youth teams also consistently rank among the top in their leagues.
We are proud to have fielded one to two teams in every age group for many years and to be in a strong financial position as a club. None of this would be possible without the support of our sponsors, our circle of friends, the involvement of parents, and the dedication of many members.
A heartfelt thank you to all of you.
